I'm Ed Schwent

As a tournament player, I was fortunate to be one of the top amateurs and professionals in the St. Louis area. I’ve reached some of the highest levels in St. Louis golf, including coaching at Saint Louis University and serving as the Head Golf Professional at The Missouri Bluffs, Gateway National, and for over a decade now, at Old Hickory Golf Club.

Old Hickory is home for the Ed Schwent Golf Academy and where we film most of our content for The Golf Sensei.

My Story

I’m proud to have been named Gateway PGA Teacher of the Year in 2021 and honored to have been recognized as the #2 teacher in Missouri by Golf Digest in its "Best Teachers in the USA" list, an accolade I’ve held since 2015 through the latest editions.

I've been lucky enough to teach over 40,000 private lessons and I still love teaching players of all skill levels. I have just as much fun watching a beginner hit the ball in the air for the first time as I do watching one of my elite junior players win a big tournament.

My personal approach to each student is what sets my teaching apart. I work with students of all ages, genders, and skill levels, tailoring my instruction to their individual needs.
